Lyrikill has built his reputation as a landmark in the southern hip-hop community.  Through his audio, performance and journalistic contributions to the New Orleans music community, he has made it a goal to provide opportunities for regional talent while cementing himself as one of the region’s top lyricists.

“Everything I ever tried to build, was to make life easier for the next generation of artists coming from through,” says the emcee who started as an intern for locally based magazine Da R.U.D.E.  He eventually created his own magazine and through partnerships with other companies provided media coverage, performance opportunities, studio time and mentorship for young artists. 

His latest project “Shut Up & Rap” is the second part of a series of short songs dedicated to a current time when gossip and conflict overshadows musical content.  This project follows up a 2010 project that featured exclusive new music and freestyles over popular current instrumentals. 

This project lays the foundation for Lyrikill’s 7th studio album “Saints & Sinners” due in mid-May. “This is just music for the adult hip-hop head who need a break from radio programming.  I hope to engage people in a train of thought that reminisces on a better time in music and gives us hope for the future,” said Lyrikill.
